Prayer and Fasting -Thursday

20160101 E2S

This past Sunday we set our theme for 2016 at Gateway: Equipped to Shine. In the coming year our prayer is that as a church and as individuals we will be prepared by God to accomplish the tasks that He has set before us. We have the promise that God will give us the gifts, talents, insights, understanding and strength that we need to be useful servants of our Lord Jesus. God has good things for you to equip you. Be ready to be equipped, get ready to shine.

Hebrews 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer Points

  • That we would receive equipping from godly believes, the word of God and God’s supernatural gifts.
  • Understanding of our unique mission and part in the body of Christ.
  • That we would shine brighter than ever in the face of darkness in the world.

Don’t miss out on tonight’s prayer meeting.

Prayer and Fasting -Wednesday

In my devotions yesterday I read a simple verse that gives us a lot of practical direction about prayer. Luke 5:16 tells us that “Jesus himself frequently withdrew to the wilderness and prayed.” Jesus the Son of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, God in the flesh needed to pray. As we begin this year let’s take advantage of a source of strength, direction and fellowship that can be ours as we give ourselves to prayer.

-Pastor Matt

Prayer Points:

  • More salvations through the ministries of Gateway this year
  • More disciples to grow in their walk with the Lord
  • An increased understanding of the love of God for each person that calls Gateway home.

Prayer Meeting

Tomorrow night 7pm at Gateway.

Global Prayer and Fasting

This January we will continue our twice annual tradition of setting aside the week of January 3-9 for a time of prayer and fasting at Gateway. Stay tuned for details about prayer meetings, keep an eye here on the blog for a daily prayer guide and most importantly mark your calendar and plan to participate.

At the same time, the global Foursquare family is setting aside 21 days to fast and prayer for our world. Follow this link to read an article by the US Foursquare president and to sign up for daily email prayer reminders.

2016 is just around the corner. Let’s start the year in strength as we seek the Lord first.
