Dominican Team -Update 2

On Tuesday we again went to the house build in Loma and continued with building up the walls to 11 courses of bricks. The weather was great and the crew made good progress with our assistance. After lunch we went back to the Congrejo school and walked over to the Congrejo neighbourhood, where most of the kids are from. It is a very poor neighbourhood consisting of people with Haitian descent. Gord and Peter then sanded the new library ceiling in preparation for paint.
Wednesday morning the team went to the Sosua Abajo school and we had a great time teaching English to the kids, they are so receptive. After this we spent a bit of time in prayer with the pastor of Templo Biblico, as he had just found out that his elderly mother was in the hospital. What a gracious spirit this man has! We also had the opportunity to pray for healing for another lady, Mildred. The team took the afternoon off and went to Cabarete for some shopping, foot massages, and a great dinner at Gorditos. The day was finished off by the men joining in on a men’s bible study, and Peter was blessed to give a testimony.

Dominican Team Update

Here is an update from the Dominican Team:

We had a great day today after going to the Spanish speaking church Templo Biblico, where they so graciously welcomed us last night.
We started this morning with an excellent time of sharing and prayer before we left to start the house build. At 9:00 am we left the hotel and went to the house site, where the father of the family, Jesus, welcomed us with hugs all around. He sells bread for a living, and I have attached a picture of his “moto” with his baking goods. We worked very hard alongside the building crew, hauling bricks, mortar and cement, and cutting rebar to length. We broke for lunch and then proceeded to the Congrejo school. Here we helped prepare the new library for paint and various other small jobs. At recess Gordon and myself played with the kids – it was a lot of fun. Ronda, Tanya and Lena enjoyed doing art with the youngest class at the end of the day. We are all feeling tired, but revived in our spirits from the warm welcome we have received from all the local people.

You Are a Walking Miracle!

20150915 Fall 2015 Email

Hi Gateway Family,

In Luke 8 Jesus tells His disciples the parable of the sower. In the parable He talks about the word being planted in our lives and the things that can rob us of the fruitfulness that the word brings. The devil, immaturity, and the cares and riches of life can stand in the way of us fully realizing the benefit of God’s word to us.

Last Sunday I shared a simple word on miracles. Miracles are for the church today. Miracles are received by faith. Your salvation was a miracle; if you have faith for that than you have faith to see miracles too. The Lord wants that word to bear fruit in your life! Be aware that there are things that will cause you to doubt or forget God’s word. Claim God’s promises for your life today and stand in faith on the life changing word of God.

I’m looking forward to seeing you this Sunday as we celebrate a baby dedication and dig into the topic of speaking in tongues as part of our sermon series on the supernatural. See you at 10am.

Blessings and Love,

Pastor Matt
